AWFISHNET Malawi advocates for gender equality and the economic empowerment of women in fisheries and aquaculture.
AWFISHNET Malawi is a not-for-profit organisation and a member of the African Women Fish Processors and Traders Network, a Pan-African network operating in approximately 54 countries. As an umbrella body, we work hand-in-hand with the Malawi government and development partners to build the capacity of women-led cooperatives and SMEs involved in fish farming, processing and trade.
To improve the lives of women through economic empowerment.
To advocate for gender equality and economic empowerment of women in the fisheries and aquaculture sector.

What we do
Our work spans the fisheries and aquaculture value chain, from production and processing to markets, policy and the environment.
Building the capacity of women-led cooperatives and enterprises involved in fish farming and aquaculture across Malawi.
Supporting women processors to produce high-quality fresh, smoked and value-added fish products such as fish powder, sausages and fishballs.
Connecting women fish processors and traders with markets to help their enterprises grow and become more viable.
